Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Glowstone Candles LLC, of Hillsboro, Oregon (“Glowstone”, “we”), collects, uses, keeps and shares information about the people who visit this site and buy from the studio. It applies to www.glowstone.design and to all products and services Glowstone offers, whether you buy a work online, at a market or art festival, or by commission.

Information we collect

When you buy a work online: your name, email address, shipping address, phone number and the details of your order, and your billing address when your payment method needs it. You pay on Stripe's secure checkout page, by card or with a digital wallet such as Apple Pay or Google Pay. Glowstone never receives or stores your card number.
When you buy at a market or festival: payments are taken with PayPal Zettle, by card or phone. Glowstone receives a record of the sale but not your card number. If you ask for a receipt by email or text message, Zettle receives that email address or phone number to send it.
When you write to us: the name, email address, optional phone number and message you send through the contact form, by email or on Instagram, and the work you asked about.
When you send a commission brief: your name, email address and optional phone number, your role or firm if you are working for a client, and what you tell us about the space, the setting, your budget and your timing. Leave out anything you would rather not share, such as a client's address.
When you ask to hear about new works: your email address.
When you visit: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run and protect the site. This site does not use advertising pixels, tracking cookies or third-party analytics.

If you bought from, wrote to or subscribed to updates from Glowstone through our previous website, which was hosted by Wix, we keep those records under this policy. They can include your name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, order notes, purchase history, messages, and whether you subscribed to email or text updates. Payments on that site were handled by its payment providers, including PayPal, and Glowstone did not receive card numbers. That site also used Wix's cookies and visitor analytics; this site does not.

How we use it

To fulfill, ship and support your order, including returns.
To answer your messages and prepare commission proposals.
To tell you about new works, only if you asked us to.
To keep the tax and accounting records the law requires.
To prevent fraud and keep the site secure.

We do not send marketing email or text messages unless you ask for them.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to others, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share it only with the services that run the studio and deliver your order, each of which handles it under its own privacy policy:

Stripe, which processes online card and wallet payments and checks them for fraud.
PayPal Zettle, which processes card payments at markets and festivals.
Netlify, which hosts this site, receives contact and commission forms and screens them for spam.
Google, which hosts the studio's email.
The shipping carrier that delivers your work, which receives your name, address and phone number.

We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of Glowstone, our customers or others. If the business is ever sold or transferred, its customer records would pass to the new owner under this policy.

Cookies

This site uses no advertising or analytics cookies. When you start a checkout, it sets one functional cookie that keeps the work reserved for you while you pay. That cookie is sent only to the site's checkout service and expires on its own within about 35 minutes. Stripe's checkout page sets the cookies it needs for payment security and fraud prevention, which Stripe's privacy policy describes.

You can block cookies in your browser settings, but checkout may not work without them.

Other websites

This site links to websites we do not control, such as Instagram and Stripe's checkout. Their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

How we protect it

This site is served over an encrypted connection. Card payments are handled by Stripe and Zettle, so Glowstone never handles your full card number. Access to order and contact records is limited to the studio and the services listed above. No website or storage method is completely secure, but we take reasonable care to protect the information we hold.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Messages and commission briefs that do not lead to an order are deleted once we no longer need them to answer you. If you asked to hear about new works, we keep your email address until you ask us to stop.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Access the personal information we hold about you and send you a copy.
Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Delete your information, unless we must keep it, for example for tax records.
Restrict how we use it.
Transfer it to you in a common, machine-readable format.
Stop email or text updates, at any time.

To make a request, write to glowstonecandles@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm details of an order or a message so we know the request is yours. We will respond within 45 days. If we decline a request, we will explain why, and you can ask us to reconsider by replying to that email. Using these rights will not change how we treat you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state law, and we will honor them.

Children

Glowstone works are open-flame lamps meant for adults. This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and revise the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check this page for changes.
